Thousands of people are about to head to metro Atlanta hotels if the hurricane cone continues to predict a SC/NC strike. It will also be interesting to see what path and where all that rain will be heading. I would imagine those states making possible evacuations mandatory no later than Tuesday.

Wasn’t it last year when Maria hit Florida and so many people evacuated that they opened up the Georgia Speedway for camping, and the storm even ended up causing problems here?

That's what I recall hearing.

It was the first storm ever to prompt Tropical Storm Warnings in Metro Atlanta.

It was Irma. And yes, the storm did some damage at the speedway, but nothing life threatening.

Mandatory coastal evacuations declared by Governor of South Carolina. That means Myrtle Beach and Charleston residents will be heading inland to cities like Columbia and Atlanta. Forecasters are saying that tropical storm force winds could possibly be felt inland to interstate 75 in Georgia. Yikes!
