Yeah, and it's not exclusive to just Delta. I feel that people are getting way too comfortable too quickly as far as this pandemic goes in assuming that everything will rebound after the states end shelter at home ordinances. There seems to be a mentality that everything will just reopen and carry on BAU but that just isnt going to happen. The effects of this were absolutely catastrophic. I think the REAL problems are going to come in the future as we coast through this trying to rebuild the economy with bits and pieces of it literally collapsing from under our feet with little to no warning before it completely destabilizes.

I agree. Normal's not a possibility, not like "normal" was great (feeling sardined on planes; crazy tiers of tickets, etc.). Looks like Delta's not charging "normal price" tickets until mid-Apr 21, too, so we'll see what happens after the next 90 days.

Agreed. As far as air travel, everything I'm seeing now is saying we won't be back to 'normal' until sometime late next year in the best possible scenario. There is way too much uncertainty for that to possibly happen in my opinion. I hope that I'll be proven wrong.

Delta to cut workforce in August through buyouts, early retirements

Delta Air Lines plans to have a smaller workforce starting in August through early retirements and buyouts.

Atlanta-based Delta is offering cash severance and limited benefits to employees who agree to leave the company..."

I don't see air travel recovering in any kind of meaningful way until there is a proven and deployed vaccine.

It could be years.

Bookings are up about 20% in July and August vs. April. Now, granted it’s 20% up from nearly nothing and still a devastating overall loss but a sign of hope nonetheless.

Right now it’s simply personal trips people are taking. I’m not sure how fast business comes back. I wouldn’t think before middle of next year

I just booked a family trip to the Caribbean for Christmas. Airfares were cheaper than I’ve ever seen for this time of year. Cancellation policy for the resort was insane as well - up to day before travel with no penalty.

I was on a Delta plane twice last week and each flight was as full as possible. Hartsfield-Jackson was also busier than I expected.

I thought travelers had to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival—is that not true?
