Hi,
We are moving to Roswell. I was told Roswell high school is great so we were specifically looking at houses zoned to there. We found a great house but noticed the elementary school Mimosa Elementary is not ranked very well. Should I be concerned about sending my kids there? I am confused why an elementary school that feeds into a good high school is ranked so poorly. If I should be avoiding this elementary I’d rather find out sooner rather than later. Thanks!

It's in a small, lower income/very high Hispanic part of Roswell.

Oh wow. Don’t mind the racial diversity but don’t want to deal with the problems that may come with a low income area. Do you know anything about the liberty square neighborhood that is zoned to this school? Would this be considered a not nice neighborhood?

The general area around Holcomb Bridge Rd at GA-400 is probably the only area in N Fulton north of the river that I'd not recommend. It's one of the oldest areas of N Fulton with a lot of apartments and aged commercial development.

I agree with the above statement

Thanks for clueing me in. I actually was able to find a crime map of the area and definitely not somewhere we want to live. I guess that explains the prices. Even looking at the neighborhood on google maps I would have no clue that it wasn’t nice. It’s crazy how the “bad” areas down south don’t seem to actually look visibly bad like they do up north.

Yea it can be hard to tell especially in neighborhoods themselves.
You don't have to go far to find the nice areas which almost seems odd but that's just how it is. I live just 2 exits up 400 just east of Haynes Bridge Rd and I feel very safe. Pretty much all of N Fulton is nice except that one little spot.

If you like that general area, as it is overall a good area in a good location, I highly recommend looking in the close-by elementary school districts:

Northwood Elementary
River Eves Elementary
Hillside Elementary
Esther Jackson Elementary

*The elementary schools above are in the Centennial High Cluster - a superb, well-rounded high school.

You should also look at nearby Hembree Springs Elementary. This school is eventually feeds into Roswell High or Milton High. The links above also give you good info about this pattern.
