I made my decision.... I am moving to Autumn Ridge Apartments in Roswell. I will be working right off of Peachtree Industrial Drive in Duluth. Can someone tell me how horrible my commute will be?

Internet directions ay 10.8 miles - 22 minutes. How true is this? I will need to be to work at 7:30 a.m.

Autumn Ridge Trail to
Eves Road to
Holmcomb Bridge Road (140) tp
Old Scott Road to
Scott Road to
Nesbit Ferry Road to
Old Alabama Road to
Medlock Bridge (141N) to
State Bridge Road to
Pleasant Hill Road to
Peachtree Industrial Blvd NW (.7 miles to my job)

Is this my best route?

twice

That sounds good, Autumn Ridge/Roswell. I love that area.

Other posters know the streets better than I but it is doable. You may need to go at off peak hours and it will definitely take longer but I think you will be OK. (If you need to end up on P'tree Ind--I don't really understand why you have to travel on Pleasant Hill. Someone will know.)

They are getting ready to do something major to Pleasant Hill--perhaps someone can advise you on that.

'Construction work will begin in June at the Buford Highway intersection, Chapman said, to coordinate with the state DOT's re-routing of Pleasant Hill under Buford Highway and the railroad tracks.

The work should be completed by this fall, he said. The state project is expected to be finished by January.

take care

Not that YOU would speed, but, be on the lookout for unmarked police cars in the Duluth area...easy to exceed the limit once the traffic allows...especially along PIB. Wouldn't hurt to get to work a bit earlier to beat some of the school traffic. Good luck.

I lived on Eves Road and also off Fouts Rd during the mid 90s...boy, has that area changed!!

State Bridge Rd. = Pleasant Hill Rd. It changes names when you cross the river. The only other practical way to cross the Chattahoochee would be at Holcomb Bridge.

This not necessary. On Eves Road it will be much better to go straight at the intersection and turn right directly on to Scott Rd.

Thanks. I got very lost out there once ended up in some part of Forsyth county--which seemed to be very nice but I had no idea where I was.

Twice--if you can make some trial runs I would recommend that. I think this is a pretty congested route and likely to become more so if road work is scheduled. It seems to me at State Bridge/Pleasant Hill you might do better to try the Ppree Pkwy side/141 and cut across to P'tree Industrial further down. I know I would be on the road by 6:30 AM.

The time you're seeing from the map site is actually pretty close. I did some consulting work at Agco in Duluth (on PIB just south of Abbott's Bridge) a couple of years ago, not long after moving to our new place off Fouts Road (just across the park from Autumn Ridge). I drove that exact route pretty much every day for a month or so, and could count on a 20-25 minute drive time. Leaving at 7 am to be there by 7:30 shouldn't be any problem -- I was leaving around 8 am and had no trouble at all getting there before 8:30.

Absolutely correct. There's no light at Old Scott Road and Holcomb Bridge, and making a left there at rush hour can be a bear.

Rackensack--

Have you seen the article in the AJC about the construction work that is to begin in June, IIRC, at Pleasant Hill/Buford Hwy. From time to time I need to go out that way myself and would like to be prepared for additional delays. I haven't had the best of luck with traffic on my visits to the area.

I hadn't, but then I rarely head up that way anymore. Pleasant Hill and Buford Hwy has been torn up for the last few years as they've been reworking that intersection extensively to tunnel Pleasant Hill under the at-grade railroad crossing to an overpass and convert the entire intersection into a freeway-style interchange.

I just looked at the article from today's paper, and its sounds like the new project beginning in June is primarily a widening of Pleasant Hill between Old Norcross Road and Buford Highway. It sounds like the biggest impact would be on folks using Pleasant Hill east of Buford Hwy.
