Here is the link to a past thread with comments that examined many of the comparisons that you are seeking to make between Douglasville and McDonough...

I don't particularly care for either, but if you put a gun to my head and I had to choose, Douglasville.

1. It's relatively closer to Atlanta proper.

2. Douglas County isn't bogged down with a ton of semi-truck traffic & pollution, as there aren't nearly as many warehouses.

3. It has a real shopping mall.

But again, neither Douglasville nor McDonough is my favorite amongst the non-North Atlanta suburbs.

I like McDonough's square slightly better than Douglasville's downtown. I went with McDonough as I've actually lived there before but been to Douglasville plenty of times.

I haven't really spent much time in McDonough but my grandma used to live near Douglasville and I've driven I-20 a lot more. I think the traffic situation is better on 20 than 75 which seems to always be a disaster. It's also closer to downtown and the northside. Really isn't that far from the airport either

Traffic in Henry is a nightmare. Once took me around 10-15 minutes to just turn on the freeway in the Southpoint area. I'd go with Douglasville.

Douglasville. Mcdonough is further away from downtown and D'ville has better shopping options

Depending on one where may have to commute to and from work (particularly if and/or traffic ever returns to normal), both Douglasville (Douglas County) and McDonough (Henry County) are good choices.

But because of the presence of such treasured and beloved natural amenities like Sweetwater Creek State Park and even the lesser-known Dog River Reservoir, I probably personally might would have to go with Douglasville over McDonough.

Overall, because of Douglas County’s location along the western banks of the Chattahoochee River and because of the presence of the heavily forested hilly terrain through much of the part of the county through the Chattahoochee River basin, Douglas County seems to have significantly more natural beauty than Henry County.

Though, Henry County seems to be a really good option for people who commute to jobs in Southeast metro Atlanta (including in Henry, Clayton, south DeKalb and southeast Fulton counties).

Henry County can also be a decent/good option for people who work in Middle Georgia (Bibb or Houston counties, etc.) but want to live in metro Atlanta.

Henry County also can be a good option for people who might frequently travel longer distances to and from points south and southeast like the Georgia and South Carolina coast and Florida.

Though, like others have mentioned, traffic often can be a bear along the I-75 corridor through the McDonough area, particularly during normal times.
