Of course, an organization like Microsoft would be interested in Leed-certified projects like its new home at Atlantic Yards. The building design seems to maximize the use of natural sunlight while providing public space for spontaneous meetings for its workers.

However, the sustainable capacity that the Grove Park Microsoft project presents with the natural resources of the nearby Bellwood Quarry will be nothing short of a sustainable community wonder that could possibly put the city in another tier, like Hartsfield Jackson parallel terminals and runway design did by creating optimal use and efficiency without using a lot of space.

Also with the developer New City behind the Old Fourth Ward revitalization purchasing 19 acres near the proposed Microsoft campus, this area is about to absolutely blow up and it will be an adventure to watch what happens. I am so glad we didn't get Amazon and so many more box towers without ecosystem capacity and community purpose. Huge yawn! Timing is everything! The availability of the land, companies (Microsoft, New City) with the capital to create, and political backing are all aligning for the creation of this Microsoft project.

It's something most would hope, right? Unfortunately, these things are always left to those hopeful reports that drum up interest and then reports of failed dreams. I suspect that if the city continues increasing its resident population, maybe we'll eventually get something close to the dream. Maybe this will be a great example.

Yall aint squeeze through the open gates? I recommend anyone who might go to compare it to Piedmont Park to wait. There are two tiny, tiny unfulfilling trails there so far and the distance from the reservoir is further than most people thought (but probably for safety). There's a small tragically unshaded field. The park is going to take time to be built up. Very few spots to picnic on the ground right now, so it's good for fresh air mostly right now.

Wow, it looks great, I notice that the name Bellwood Quarry has been dropped for Westside Park. Truly Atlanta's next great neighborhood with Microsoft's sustainable community and business model will be fun to watch develop.
