Being I am fron the North, it's nice to know that during football season, I'll be able to enjoy it with the traditional fall/winter feeling.
Only the tail end. It is still warm enough to go outside without a (heavy) jacket many days in early November. You will want a hat for night games or if it is rainy, but other than that a fleece is all that is typically necessary to watch the game at the stadium.

Atlanta is on the peidmont at 1,000 foot elevation from sea level. That alone makes it 3 or 4 degrees cooler than south Georgia, particularly in the suburbs away from the city heat sink. It also has a distinct 4 seasons.
It's all relative anyways, people claiming Atlanta is hot usually have never lived anywhere else. Anywhere east of the mississippi river is hot and humid during the summer except maybe in the upper appalachians - Chicago, St. Louis, Washington, etc. All hot and humid.

Having lived in South Florida and Tennessee Valley of Alabama, Atlanta is not as hot as either of those places. In Florida its humidity, all day long. Wake up in the morning its 85 with 90% humidity. The Tennessee Valley suffers from being in a valley, that traps the air, with little to no winds. Its hot and humid from the 1 mile wide river.
Atlanta at least has a breeze most days in the summer, coming off the mountains. Even last year when it was 106, there was a breeze.

A light jacket is just fine. As long as I am not wearing tank tops and shorts.

Being I've lived in Detroit, Chicago, and Columbus, and I've experienced hot weather in those cities, I think I'll be okay.

And I'm from NYC and I can remember awfully hot days there as well, but when I moved down to Atlanta at the end of August, I thought I was going to melt. Just saying.

I just love, love, love Atlanta weather. I don't care how hot it gets because I can't stand tue cold. Gone are those days of icy snow, wind chill factor, walking to the bus with your nose running and snot forming into ice cycles, fingers and toes frozen to the point of tears and they freeze up on your face too. Phuq that. Give me heat and if it zhould get unbearable, I will just get naked, splash in cold water and deal with it.
