I am 60 and have tried the red rice yeast...did not help. I tried a statin drug and got leg cramps after about two months. The doctor put me on Welchol for three months with no effect. He says the overall cholestrol is ok, but the LDL is higher than he feels if right.... 187. Now he has given me a new prescription for Lescol. I looked up side effects and one was Lupus
I am otherwise healthy. I did way back in early years contract Hepititis B. I found that out when I tried to be a blood donor. I hate to even begin to take another statin drug especially with the scary side effects. I am think of getting a second opinion eeven tho the doctor is board certified in this speciality.

I am otherwise healthy. I did way back in early years contract Hepititis B. I found that out when I tried to be a blood donor. I hate to even begin to take another statin drug especially with the scary side effects. I am think of getting a second opinion eeven tho the doctor is board certified in this speciality.
