Im from NE north and I know in Atlanta the diversity is huge and wouldnt be a problem.

If i considered gwinett county and was in sales, do you think the locals would not do business with me because I dont have the accent or from there?

I read some threads in Boise ID with similar situation and after 2 years the guy and his business a service business left

Wha? That's crazy. Gwinett county, although is suburbia, is quite diverse and I would think is accepting of all nationalities.

You won't have a problem...most everyone that lives there is from somewhere else.

1) I haven't met a "local" who lived in Gwinnett for years. They migrated away or died years ago.

2) If you do happen to run across a local up that way, the only way you will ever see a negative reaction is if you criticize the area and make a comparison to where you came from. Example: "Aw geez, I hate the way people here do XXX... back home in New York, here's how we do it...". THAT will get you black-balled by locals.

Otherwise, people here are generally more accepting than commonly believed.

Trust me, if your a Yankee, you have an accent.....it just might not be ours.

As far as G-Town, I didn't know they still had natives still living there.

The AJC had an article about the changing demographics of Gwinnett County a while back. As I remember, a good percentage of the residents were not born in the United States.

I don't believe your accent would be a problem here. Buford Highway is a testament to a near communication breakdown, and yet the area is as busy a beehive. I constantly go into businesses who's names I can't even understand, and have great meals and buy great stuff, sometimes just to experiment with. All I ask is that we can understand each other. I have trouble when I just can't understand what someone else is saying. It might be incumbent upon you to make more effort since you are offering the product or service and you are one seeking to successfully make a profit . . .
