How do you get into the Pre-K4 program that is paid by Georgia? Are there any in Alpharetta?

Assuming that your area of Alpharetta lies in the Fulton County school district, contact Fulton County or the State of GA's Dept of Education.

The funding for education was cut dramatically last year and I assume many programs were discontinued.

Planning for Fall '09 is probably now underway and if you are aggressive you may be able to secure a placement for your child.

The lottery preK program has been largely unaffected by the current budget crisis.. mostly because people are still playing the lottery. Some school systems have considered cutting (and Cobb did and Gwinnett never has had) the pre-K classrooms in their school houses.

The best place to get the information you are looking for is:

Bright from the Start - Home

Most (but not all) Fulton Co public schools will have one pre-k class per building which equals 20 slots. You are limited to your home school. However, there are also day care centers and occasional churches that offer the program.

Good luck!
