Hello -

Now that the weather is nice, we're looking for porch chairs, in addition to patio furniture for our outdoor spaces in our new house (large front porch & back deck). Does anyone have any recommendations for places to find relatively inexpensive, but nice quality patio furniture? We'd probably prefer wood products (think adirondack, etc) or synthetic wicker. We live in Decatur, so we'd ideally like to stay ITP for our shopping, but would consider a bit OTP if there is a really good place to check out. We'd also prefer to see the furniture in person vs. ordering online b/c we'd like to try it out first.

Thanks!!

I'm guessing for the most value, try Home Depot, Lowe's, Target and Wallyworld.

If you're up for a trip to around I-85 & Indian Trail, you really need to check out Garden Ridge.

If you're up for a trip to I-85 & Pleasant Hill, check out Old Time Pottery.

I'm thinking the "best" is probably Georgia Backyard. The closest to you would be at Perimeter Mall, around back between Dillard's & Bloomingdale's. They are pricey, but you can get a great idea of what is new and popular for this season there.

Good luck!

I got an very nice set at Sam's club last year. I looked everywhere and every place was really expensive. A neighbor said to try Sams and I was very skeptical. But sure enough, I walked in and saw a very well made heavy duty attractive patio set. It has held up well with kids jumping all over it!

Outdoor furniture is deceptively expensive. I do not think you will get both good quality and inexpensive. The all weather wicker is very expensive, and so is the nice aluminum which looks like wrought iron (this is what I got after years of throwing stuff away after 2 years, and I got a table, 6 chairs, a settee and a side table for about $3000.). Since you suggest adirondack is one of the styles you like, I think that will be your best bet for inexpensive. I would try LL Bean for a pretty good and colorful selection, or see if there are some local makers around you.

We got our set at Lowe's about 3 years ago and it is still in great condition. It was a fairly cheap set with four chairs (two of which are swivel rockers) and a tile table which we could choose our own tiles for. We also got a nice umbrella with lights built-in. And I'm pretty sure all in all we didn't spend more than maybe $500. We also have a conversion drink-bucket/fire-pit side table, which I think was part of the set, but I can't remember. Obviously, none of this is wood or Adirondack.

If you want the most for your money and don't mind waiting a bit check out Lowes or Home Depot around mid-summer. They start putting stuff on clearance amazingly early.

I second Noah on if you can wait for the deals. The deals on outdoor furniture are awsome in late summer to Labor day weekend.

I agree that if you wait, youll get a better deal. Other than that, I would suggest Costco. They have their patio/outdoor living merchandise in stock right now. And Old Time Pottery has a decent selection also. Not as nice as Costco though.
