I grew up in KC, MO but moved here a year ago from Boise, ID. We moved here to be closer to family that ended up here. Plus the cost of living & pay for my position is much better here than in Idaho, so that was a factor.

I moved here from Denver for School. It's been fun but hopefully I won't be here for too much longer.

It's okay so far. Admittedly I haven't gotten into much yet. Haven't even been downtown for a look see this time around yet. You see I'm somewhat familiar with the area from having a lot of family native to the area. Have been here numerous times, my sister has lived here for 25 years, we even have our bi-annual family reunions here sometimes on a rotating basis.

Also from Wisconsin. One hour north of Milwaukee. Lived here 3 years.
As with any city.... Atlanta has its pros and cons. I like living here... not sure if it will be permanent, though. The exploding population proves that many of us have moved here for the same reasons.

I moved here from Tampa in November. My husband and I came up here last July to visit friends that moved here from Orlando and bought a house within 24 hours of getting here.

Then, we worked out the job situation.....

I would agree that many Aspects of Atlanta remind me of DC.

I'm originally from New Orleans (as we say...'It ain't dere no more'), lived in DC/N VA for three years, Richmond,VA for a year, and now live in Manhattan for eight years and planning to move to Atlanta in a few months! Can't wait!!

Love it!
My husband an I moved here last May fron St Augustine, FL and we couldn't be happier! There is so much to do, they say it takes you 3 full years to get true grips on Atlant and the surrounding cities.
Being part of forums and meetups is the best way to meet new people with similar intrests here, since there are over 5 million people in ATL now.

I wish you the best of luck in your move!

Katy

As for me, West "By God" Virginia and my spouse New Jersey.
Don't hate it, Don't love it. My spouse loves it here so I guess we will be here for awhile to come.
I would leave at the first opportunity, just a tad bit to HOT for this cold weather lover
