If you remain open-minded and positive you can adapt and enjoy where you are currently living. It is a matter of giving it a chance. If you are negative, then only negatives things will happen to you. So stay positive and get out and enjoy the state of Georgia, the city of Atlanta, and the surrounding areas (Birmingham-2 hours to the west, Nashville-3 hours to the northwest, South Carolina to the east and Florida to the south).

I like it here too and I know the quality of life is better as well as the weather but man, I can't stop feeling trapped and wanting to run back home.

If you experienced anything similar, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks.
I lived in bklyn and then 10 years in White Plains before moving here 16 years ago. During my first year down here I must have driven up to NY 4 or 5 times for a "fix", but over time got more used to it here and got to the point where I didn't miss NY anymore.
My advice is... act like a tourist. Spend your free time going around to tourist attractions now because after you have been here a while you won't do it. How many NYers go to the Statue of Liberty or take the Circle Line?

When I first moved here I took my son to Fernbank, World of Coca-Cola, Cyclorama, Zoo Atlanta, etc. and took advantage of all of the free or cheap concerts available (look in Thursday's newpaper). The busier you stay the faster you will get used to it.

It's absolutely insane to have to work with people who commute into Atlanta from freakin CANTON, or kennesaw, or alpharetta!!! These people come into the city and I'm like, why the hell would I ever want to get to know you, and they all don't give a damn either about the city because they don't live here... It's a nightmare!

Hopeless, sad, sad, people who want to live the suburban life yet they HAVE to drive so far... Absolutely PATHETIC!
WTF??? Talk abut sad and pathetic people! Maybe your co-workers choose to live outside the city so that they don't have neighbors like you
