I also hope we get the money for this. I know I would use it. So this is only the first phase right? Weren't there also plans for it to eventually go up Peachtree into Buckhead?

The original plans had it stretching from Ft. McPherson to Brookhaven, but they were scaled back to a more realistic route. The current configuration guarantees the most ridership.

There is something like $100 billion worth of requests for about $6 billion of "stimulus" dedicated to transit projects. Those exact numbers aren't correct but you get the idea.

I also hope Atlanta gets this grant. I've been reading about it with great interest. My mother and aunt always talked fondly about the streetcars.
