Drivers Ed for Teens (Marietta, Alpharetta: high schools, price, discount)

We need to sign up our teenager for drivers ed the 30/6 course. Anyone have any experience or information on:

Taggart Driving School-Suwanee
GA Driving Coach-Alpharetta
Johns Creek Driving School

I can't believe that the pricing is varying greatly. $385, $450 and $495. That's $110 between the least to the most expensive. You would think they all would be pretty competitive with each other.

Most of the schools systems have programs. My 16 year old just completed the Cobb/Marietta class and it cost $350.

Here in No. Fulton, the school made a classroom available to the driving school, and kids went directly after school. Once they finished the 30 hours or so of classroom work, they got 6 hours of behind the wheel. I'm pretty sure it was done through Taggart, but I'd have to double check.

If you go to the driving school websites, they tell you what sessions they will be holding at what high schools. We booked directly through the driving school. I believe we paid in the same range as Neil, but it was cheaper than the regular driving school rate.

I'll check again but I didn't see anything on any of the websites about them having anything at the school. We are at Northview.

I used Taggarts and the instructor was VERY sleazy. Whenever we passed a female cyclist he would get his camera and take photos of her butt. He also left the car running and smoked a cigarrette one time when we stopped for gas.

My sister says her Taggarts driving instructor was creepy, too.

That was 20 years ago, so maybe things have changed.

He did a good job teaching me to drive, though.

Thanks. They do offer it at Northview. Wasn't easy to find though. The price isn't any better. $429. The classes consist of 12 at 2.5 hours each from March until May. I don't know if it's better to do these or the other schools the classroom time is more condensed at a few weekends of full day classes.

Everyone I know has used different schools and I have heard good and bad about each that's what makes it so confusing.

My son had some friends that did the full day weekend classes. They HATED it. The classes aren't the most exciting experience, and the full days just dragged on and on. The after school classes aren't a picnic for the kids either, although my middle son liked his instructor more than the younger one did.

I can say neither boy has ever gotten a ticket, or had an accident. They both drive all over the metro area with confidence.

I know we didn't pay $429 a year ago. There was a discount for booking a class at the school.

The Cobb Marietta program is great and the least expensive.
