We will be up there this Spring.
Last time we house hunted in Dec we stayed at the Springhill Stes
at MOG. It was fine. Perfect sized room for the 4 of us.
Now we are house hunting in Suwanee, and are thinking of staying at
the Embassy Suites in Alpharetta.
Is that too much of a hassle/drive?
We need a decent hotel with separate rooms (living room and bedroom).

Any suggestions?

I've stayed at that Embassy Suites before, and it's about half an hour from Suwanee. Also, if you're there one a weekday, it's going to be longer, because you have to cross the river, and that can be daunting during rush hour. However, you had previously mentioned looking at south Forsyth, so if you are going to be there as well, it may be worth it. However, if you're in Suwanee exclusively, I really wouldn't do it.

We stayed at the Embassy both times when house hunting. We really like it there. There's plenty to do in the North Point area when not house hunting. The two rooms are great. The kids can stay out in the living area while my husband and I have the bedroom. Also the free breakfast is great too. Saves $$$ when you're a family of 6. Plus during the week they have the happy hour with a snack.

Depends where in Suwanee you are looking. It will definitely be more than 30 minutes if you are looking closer to 85 but it will probably only be 15-20 minutes in the Johns Creek area around 141/McGinnis Ferry.

It's not quite as nice as the Embassy Suites, but you might consider the Homewood Suites in Peachtree Corners. Still a Hilton brand, if that matters to you, and fewer services (no cooked to order breakfast), but still a free breakfast buffet, and a lot more room to spread out in the guest rooms, with separate bedrooms and a full kitchen with stove, microwave, full-sized fridge, plates/glasses/cups/silverware, etc. More like being in a house or apartment than in a hotel room. Usually comparable (slightly less expensive) than Embassy Suites. And it's quite a bit closer to your hunting grounds. There's another Homewood Suites on Brown Road near the Discover Mills mall in the Lawrenceville area that might be an even better base.

We (family of 5, with kids 8, 6, and 2 at the time) stayed at that Homewood Suites for a couple of nights a few years ago when we were moving from Tucker to East Roswell; was midway (roughly) between and since I had lots of Hilton HHonors points it made sense. Worked great for us, as have other Homewood Suites locations at various places around the country on family trips (we've also regularly stayed at Embassy Suites, SpringHill Suites, and Residence Inns, and all have consistently worked out well for us).

There's also a Residence Inn (Marriott) a couple of miles north of the Homewood Suites in the Johns Creek area, just off of Peachtree Parkway. Residence Inns are pretty much Marriott's equivalent of Homewood Suites -- large apartment style rooms with full kitchens, separate bedrooms, free breakfast buffet, etc.
