Hello,
My wife and I are being offered very good jobs in the Atlanta area but are worried about the commute. She will be working in Phipps Plaza and I will be in Monroe, GA. We have a 4 month old.

Is this a crazy idea? The jobs are really good so we are torn.
Is there a good neighborhood that would be a reasonable commute for both of us? Is this just too far to be rational?

1. Budget
Rental for now under $2000/month
2. House/Condo/Townhome?
House
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home)
Commute
4. Children(public school vs. private)
4 month old so need good daycare
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two
No preference really.
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not?
Not
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood.
Good hearted and friendly.

Ouch! You have Phipps around Lenox and Buckhead and Monroe east of Loganville Commute!!!

Ok, a midpoint could be Snellville or Lawrenceville. Good for you bad for her.
You could look to Decatur or even Lenox Road, good for her bad for you.
You could live off or on Lenox Road, again good for her bad for you tough on pocketbook.

Frankly, if you live out towards Walton County the commute into Atlanta / Phipps is in short, a nighmare. If you live in the Phipps area you can have the Buckhead life and a reverse commute.

Decatur or even around Emory University would be a good bet also and provide a reverse commute. On this item Lovin' and G. Chong can provide some good feedback.

Thanks for the reply! What is the Buckhead life?

I'm thinking her commute to Phipps may be the more important one since it is easier to go away from traffic for me.

and happy wife, happy life.

What kind of commute is Lawrenceville or Snellville to Phipps?

Really good info, thanks!

Lawrenceville to Phipps in the morning. Plan on over an hour at peak rush. A wreck double it.

Hmm...looks like 30 minutes without traffic to Phipps Plaza. What's it like for a commute, though? An hour?

Man, this is looking more and more like just too much...

Thanks for the reply!
