Old school and new school; I think Atlanta is better.

Look, we could go on and on and on; however, it is all subjective anyway!

Anybody can be bias....thats like someone saying ATL is better than Texas....by comparing Goodie Mob to Paul Wall or Outkast to Mike Jones
Yeah!!!! that why I said "People like to judge Atlanta by rappers they don't like mean while Atlanta has more lyrical rappers than ANY other city in the south and one of the largest concentration of lyrical rappers period."

Atlanta hands down right now is the top place for anyone trying to get into R&B/Hip Hop/Pop Music. This is coming from experience working in the industry. Lived in both LA and Atlanta in the past and yes LA is the best place for anyone trying to get into film and television, but Atlanta is even turning into a hot movie making center as well. CNN headquaters and TBS are located in Atlanta as well as Tyler Perry Studios as well as a list of other media outlets, but back to the main topic.

If any artist is looking to relocate somewhere where their music will get noticed then Id say Atlanta. However as one poster mentioned with the internet now you can get your music out digitally to a large audience as well.... Atlanta is indeed the best spot for someone to get noticed right now in the industry though. Ive seen individuals personally perform at local clubs in front of industry execs and months later they're on BET. Of course it wasnt overnight, but constantly networking and getting your music out and performing in front of people wont hurt....

As for the person who says New York is the place to be, Id agree if you were talking about working at a major label, but even with that almost every major label has a regional office in Atlanta now so still it wouldnt make a difference. Plus there are numerous artist getting signed and becoming famous from their music getting played on Hot 107.9 and especially V-103.... Both stations play local and upcoming artist a little more than Hot 97 or KDAY or any other station in LA or NY.... One thing though, over the past few years Ive seen Atlanta become more and more competitive for this very reason because those who are trying to make it pack up and relocate to Atlanta to do so. If you do make that move then I will let u know now that you'll have your work cut out for you, but good luck....

all of that may be true, but the fact of the matter is, no other city can offer the wide range of opportunities that new york can. there are just so many more resources available in NY

Atlanta is a major city in the urban music industry, but its not the ultimate city
