Evans HOA's (Martinez, Martin: fit in, houses, subdivision)

I sort of posted about this already but my subject wasn't really clear. We are looking for a nice subdivision in Evans but are trying to avoid any that are too strict. We want a community pool & it needs to be kid-friendly as we have 3 children: 2 teenagers & a baby. The very first HOA (Knob Hill) I looked at will not even let you park visibly in your own driveway unless you have more cars than will fit in your garage. Also, only 2 pets per household. This seems extreme to me. We don't even have any pets, but that's not the point.

Can anyone tell me if they know of an HOA community that we should steer clear of, or point us toward one that is more relaxed? We don't mind reasonable property rules as we take very good care of our property & are very particular about how it looks. I like to grow cilantro & tomatoes in the summer & we want to put some kids play equipment in the backyard. Nothing unreasonable. We have never lived under an HOA before so this is new territory for us. We aren't really sure what to expect. Thanks!

Hoping someone who's familiar with the areas (Evans & Martinez) will be able to provide info.
