He took it off because he knew he didn't have the votes to pass it. Don is the one who screwed this thing up from the beginning. His backroom wheeling and dealing backfired.

The deadline for the Hyatt is now Sep 30 instead of Aug 31 which is why they went ahead and removed it off the agenda.

Sweet. We have another month to get this thing rolling. Does anyone know the detail of the argument about the TEE Center? Is it over the Laney-Walker deal? Land? Price?

The TEE ain't gonna happen! They are too busy bickering. Having read the two articles, one would think that some may be puppets for Morris. And if Marion Williams comes back, you can bet nothing is going to happen anywhere in Augusta-Richmond County. It's a no win situation. If the vote goes before the people, it's going to be shot down because no one wants those clowns taking anymore of our money. The commission isn't going to get it done because none of them are willing to concede anything to the other (white commissioners aren't going to give into the blacks and vice versa). So anyway you slice it, it's not going to get done. I just hope that Hyatt pulls out so that we won't be kept in suspense. Then we can all watch the finger pointing.

First, let me clear up some misinformation on the issue.

The Tee center meeting got pushed back to two weeks from now. Secondly there is no deadline for the Hyatt hotel. The owner of a piece of property downtown, made a deadline on him willing to sell his property near the common. He said he wouldn't sell his property after AUG 31, but now that he sees the Tee center deal is almost done. He immediately pushed back his deadline to Sept 30. This is the owner of a piece of property downtown, and not the developer of the Hyatt. The Tee center is going to start this year. The only issue is over the amount of the parking deck. Everybody on the commission is in favor of the Tee center. The only arguement is over the price of the $17 million parking deck. Alvin Mason wants DDA to help with the cost of the parking deck.

Nobody is against the Tee center, some commissioners only want to discuss the cost of the parking deck.

The Hyatt and Tee Center are still a go!

To Magician, Didn't the commission get the library, Underwood homes, judicial center, and Gilbert Manor done all this year? The Library and Judicial center are under construction downtown. Underwood homes is abanoned and starting to come down, to begin on the Augusta/North Augusta master plan. Gilbert Manor is only 1 building left to be demolished. MCG will invest over $500 million into the Gilbert Manor property. So if you are going to comment when the commission can't agree over a issue. Which is basically 1% to 2% of the time. I think its only fair to include the 98% of the things they have already agreed on, that are under progress.

Joe Jackson took the the Tee Center off the agenda, and moved it to two weeks from now. Don Grantham didn't do anything. Seems alot of people have misinformation.
