Funny, I live in Walton Acres and have never had my cars or house broken in and I usually leave my car doors unlocked. You sound like one of those who always has something going wrong with them.

Another funding tool, a federal loan, is available to developers through the foundation if the project is 51 percent owner-occupied, Woodard added. More local companies are taking advantage of state and federal tax credits accessible for rehab projects in historic districts. Historic Augusta reports about 25 applications underway for historic tax credits in Augusta – the most since the organization was founded in 1965, said Tennent Houston, the chairman of the group’s preservation committee.

Condemned building on Broad Street to get facelift | Mobile Augusta

A blighted downtown property is expected to soon get a facelift. New glass and a clean facade will replace boarded windows and graffiti at 1140 Broad St., a 45,000-square-foot building condemned by Augusta building inspectors earlier this year. The vandalized structure had a leaky roof and was in disarray inside, said Augusta inspector Larry Lariscy. The last business to operate from the building was the Broad Street Bazaar, a flea market-type store that closed in 1996 after just a year in business. A tenant, however, has recently used the space to store products from his auction company, Lariscy said

Good to hear. That space is too prominent to be looking as it is.

I haven't look inside the building lately, but they were focusing on the inside. The building is very old, or the proposed hotel could have come into the play.

It looks boarded up... I was thinking the same thing about the hotel you mentioned. Might be wisest to wait and see what if anything comes of it and then react to its design, architecture, etc.

I was surprised by more than a couple remodelings on broad street seperate from the commons area that are actively ongoing however.

The first remodeling project that catches your eye is usually 1246 Broad(new apartments) on Artist Row,.

The Holiday Inn Express is also moving along pretty quickly on slower Broad.

Nortonguy, the Oakland Avenue/Mt. Auburn area east of Highland Avenue is in Summerville, and most folks I know who own $300,000 houses wouldn't walk around that area at night for love or money, and National Hills geographically extends from Eisenhower Drive to I-20 north of Washington Road,

so yes, the apartment complex I lived in is...almost in the MIDDLE of NH (in case you didn't know). If you folks out there want to know why I moved out feel free to read,

As for the rosy utopic living in Augusta you try to portray, I'd like you to tell me that today's news is fake, so I can get a laugh,
