I've only noticed the Bimbo products (by that name) in the past couple of years (first time I saw the name was on the side of one of their trucks and it did indeed get my attention), nor had my husband. We've been in Austin for 40 years, in Texas for 60, I grew up in East Texas and lived in Dallas/Arlington before coming here, he was born and bred in San Antonio. So I'm not terribly surprised that the OP never noticed them, myself.

Bimbo bread is to Mexico as Wonder Bread is to the US. In Mexico, bread is held differently in one's mind than here - corn is the "staff of life" in most of Mexico, wheat is seen as a Northern Mexican product (same as with milk).

Tell me Texans...are they new or old brands?

Ok, now that my memory is in question...I'll clarify. We did just see the BIMBO brand at the grocery store as I stated and it seemed as though it was the first time I had seen it. BUT, the more I thought about it because of the post saying it was strange that I HADN'T seen it before I do recall seeing it at the Mrs Bairds outlet in RR when we went there. For some reason it escaped me that I HAD seen BIMBO before. I did not intentionally set forth to say I saw BIMBO the first time just recently when I saw it once before.

OR...who the hell knows...maybe I've seen it a thousand times already since being here and it just now registered.

As far as the FUD brand goes I had NEVER seen that before.

Gawd! I certainly hope my lapse of memory while here in Texas on this stinkin forum doesn't get me the chair or require a blood sample.

Thank you TexasHorseLady for your post.

We enjoyed the same with the Mrs. Baird's bakery at Airport and Koenig. It was sort of the end of an era when it closed. I'd think many Austinites went on at least one school field trip there.
