In the summer, my husband and I bicker about the temp in the house. He's always cold, I'm always hot.

I'm wondering who's closer to normal...what to you have your thermostat set on during the day (if you're home) and what do you adjust it to for sleeping?

TIA.

I keep our thermostat at 80 in a two story townhouse day and night. It's perfect with my ceiling fan, without it might be just a little too warm.

78 when we're home and 80 when we're not home. If we have company, I normally crank it down to 76 or 75 if there are a lot of people over.

We have two units. The main floor is set for 77 daytime, and 74 at night (10 p.m.). The other unit is set similarly - but will be changed when school starts for a warmer daytime temp since the kids aren't home during the day.

We are thinking of raising the main floor temp to 78 because our new 2-speed AC unit runs longer at a lower speed and keeps the humidity at a more constant, lower level.

I work from home, so I'm here all day most days. Downstairs is set to 80 and upstairs is 85 since I'm not up there. When my husband works from home a few days a week, the upstairs is at 81. For bedtime, the upstairs, with my daughter up there, is set to 83 with her ceiling fan on as she doesn't like to sleep with blankets and I don't want her cold. Downstairs, we have it set to 81-82, again with ceiling fans.

We're talking about a brand new home less than 2 years old, with high ceilings and 3900 sqft. It's not a small house, yet our bills are barely $200 a month because we face north south with no direct sunlight into the house keeping it cooler.

79-80 when home and 85 when not.

I live alone so the thermostat war comes at work. My office is the coldest and ends up being 66.

Downstairs - 77 during day and off at night
Upstairs - 80 during the day and 78 at night

I'm a stay-at-home mom and 80 is about all I can take upstairs when doing chores

85 during the day (it's at that now) and 80 while I'm sleeping. With a ceiling fan, both are just fine. Last bill for a 1700ish sf house was $105 including the heinous $22.50 membership fee.
