I moved to Portland, Ore. from Dallas-Ft Worth in March 2009 to escape the heat and humidity and because Portland is just a GREAT city to live in.

However, I miss my family and friends. Despite the heat, I'm considering moving to Austin because I understand it is very comparable to Portland. And how nice, it's only 2-3 hours away from D/FW.

What neighborhoods/area should I be looking to live in if I want a Portland-esque experience?

I've only really spent time in East Portland (Hollywood, Hawthorne) and Bouldin, South Congress, or Travis Heights, would be similar - pretty much the zips named above.

What's your budget? Are you looking to rent or buy?

Hyde Park, North Loop, the Campus area, Clarksville, parts of central East Austin and almost anything in 78704 . To a lesser extent, Rosedale, Allandale and French Place.
