With all the tech jobs in Austin, and the surplus of males, would I be correct in thinking that many are not only celibate, but virgins? Talking hetero, as obviously the large male skewing would be a boon to homosexual hook-ups....

I'm thinking that your stereotype may be a bit outdated - as in maybe 40 years outdated? (Thinking of the males that I know that work in the tech field. No personal experience with them, you understand, but I do know their ladies, too.)

Most of the people I know in the tech sector are married.

A skewing or 53%-47% means that about 12% of males have the choice of either being celibate or homosexual.....Quite the Hobson's choice, don't you think?

Or that they are in relationships with women from out of town (I know more than one couple like this, who trade weekends in their respective cities - does tend to keep the romance in the relationship!)

Well, it's not like nerdy straight guys who can't get any strange can just decide to be gay. And I haven't seen lots of gay guys hanging around Dell looking for hookups.

If I could, I would vote this the dumbest thread of the week on this C-D board.

Agreed! I mean, geez - the level of ignorance in posting this thread astounds me.

LOL! Yeah, that'll be the day when Dell opens up a "bathhouse" for employees...

BTW, I do agree that this was a ridiculous post, but once in awhile why not? Does everything need to be utilitarian and/or have gravitas? hell, at least it isn't the 3000000th iteration of "Moving to Austin - need advice".....I do notice one thing...def a sense of humor is lacking here, because this def was tongue-in-cheek(no pun intended)...I mean, if we can't laugh at ourselves, aren't we half dead already?

Was really stupid, but was just meant to be silly.....you can laugh now....
