Can you tell me where I might find a "live" christmas tree in the Austin, TX area?

Papa Noel. They have a website and are on Facebook. Several locations throughout Austin.

Papa Noel is selling live trees now? Ones that can be planted after Christmas?

Warning on the live Christmas trees...many (most?) are not suitable for permanent planting w/o extensive maintenance. The Afghan pines do okay if you acidify the spoil and don't get too much rain.

Are you looking for a tree that you can replant or a live one to cut down? There are several Christmas tree farms in this area.

I think he meant a real tree not a plastic one. That's what he meant by live, I believe.

We got ours at Home Depot one year, replanted it, and it's still alive to this day. Like trainwreck says, it does take a little extra initial care to help it along. We filled the hole in with sand and rock and planted it on a slope to help with drainage. Elgin Christmas Tree Farm sells live trees.

Yeah, but aren't those pine trees? Not the prettiest!

No, not entirely. They had different types. Actually I say Home Depot but it could have been Lowes. Either way, not a pine.

What are the prices like for trees at Home Depot and Lowe's? I am up at Fort Hood and there is a small lot of trees in my town but they seem to be really expensive.
