Happy to hear it's not normal. My husband just got back from a week long business trip to Detroit, and he assured me that this really isn't cold. Just happy that we moved to Austin instead of any place with snow.
Are you from Northern or Southern CA? I lived in the Bay Area for a few years and it was consistently in the 50's in the winter time or occasionally 60's. You're right, it rarely got into the 30's. The first year I was there, I remember going out on New Year's Eve and I smelled a lot of smoke. I asked my friend what that was (I thought it was a forest fire or something...)? He said it was all the fireplaces going. It was maybe 45 degrees for the low that night, but he said that people learn to use fireplaces when it gets below 50 because it happens so rarely. I found this rare because even Louisiana gets colder than that.

I did enjoy the weather there though that's for sure.

Everyone always whines about it being too hot and then asks for it to be cold. It turns cold, and everyone wants it to warm up again. Ahhh, true Texans!

I don't like cold or cloudy, especially pregnant and in the 3rd tri. The dry air is havoc for my breathing. At the same time, it is winter...and this proves to all of the folks who think Texas is just varying degrees of hot that there are season changes.

Ab-so-lutely NOT!!! It's utter HEAVEN. My entire body/mind/soul could not be more relieved to have a BREAK from the endless, relentless, obnoxious, glaring, blinding sunlight........ Also we need the rain, we're in a drought,,,, does anyone remember or even care....?? Then again, 14 drops of water isn't really going to do much.....

Perhaps it's not the same people 'whining' about both.

No, it is. I'm one of those whiners!

Horrible, but only because I have to drive in it. This weather brings out the extra cr@ppy drivers. It does put me in a skiing mentality, so that's good. Generally, I miss the 100* weather and 100% humidity!

Yes we do need the rain, but most of the week it was just cloudy, it only started raining yesterday and will today and tomorrow. If it had been raining all week, I wouldn't have complained, because at least we're getting some benefit out of it in the lakes.

It has been roughly a week since I emptied my rain gauge. This morning I noticed it was overflowing, that means over 3" of rain in the last week.
