Hey, we went to barton springs. Man, that was awesome. perfect for me and my 3 year old son. what else you guys recomend? anything off the beaten path?

Well, the next place to try would be Deep Eddy. Across the river from Barton Springs, off of Lake Austin Blvd.

Also Spring fed, but a few degrees warmer, and with a shallow end great for kids that's kess than a foot high at the shallowest part. A few years ago they had to cut down the trees that were shading the shallow end, so be aware of the shade situation.


There is a playscape next door and you can walk to a dock on the river and you might see ducks. Sometimes there are geese around and the can nip at you or your child.

I concur. The wait to get into Hamilton Pool can be long unless you get there before 10am. There is a finite amount of people alllowed in, so if you get there after lunch on a hot summer day, you will end up sitting in a line of cars 30+ deep waiting for someone to leave. Kraus(e) Springs is nice, but it's a drive, for sure.
