Hi, I'm looking for some advise. My husband can take a job in Austin, Texas or Milton, Florida. Could anyone let me know which would be better to raise my 4 and 2 year old son's. I've done some checking around and both areas seem nice but I'm just not sure yet. I know the weather is going to be very humid and super hot in the summer's but I'm sure we can get use to it. I'll be moving from Ohio, so the summer's here are also very hot. But I would love for anyone to please help me out. The main concern is education for my son's. I know that Austin has great schools, great schools scored them at 10's. That's great to know but I also am concerned about safety. What areas are safe to raise children? I'm probably going to rent at first and I checked on homes for around 900 monthly and I'm really not finding to much to pick from in the Austin area. Milton yes, but not so much Austin. I may be wishful thinking. I love everything about both states but I'm also interested in good high schools in the future that my son's can play sports. I noticed Lake Travis High School's football team won national's 4 yrs in a row now. Great job. But I don't have to worry about high school for awhile for now but it's nice to know that.

Have you visited both places? Austin is much nicer IMO. Where is the office location in austin? If you can afford to pay $1000-1200 a month then you can find a nice 3 bedroom home to rent in many parts of the city that are safe. There is also Cedar Park or Round Rock to the North or Kyle or Buda to the South dependign on office location. The main sports here are football and football then baseball, soccer, and basketball. Florida would probably have soccer and basketball switched.

Austin is a very safe city - there are some undesirable places, but none that are really unsafe. With a $900 price range, you can find something in a good area. I do not have any idea about Milton, FL, so I can't compare them.
