Honestly, I have found Austin not nearly as liberal as the media and some Austin liberals would have you believe. It all depends on what you're used to and where you've previously lived, of course.

I'd say Liberal Democrat. However, many of our "Republicans", city proper at least, are actually Libertarian.

Austin is moderately liberal Democrat community but not extremely so. There area fair number of Republicans here also and many citizens here are independent, voting for the candidate rather then the party. Austin is liberal compared to most parts of Texas but not when compared to the rest of the country.

The Daily Caller, a conservative Washington-based website that touts its reporting and commentary. The site designated the nation’s 100 counties deemed most friendly to liberals based on (numerous) factors...

The No. 1 most liberal-friendly county, the Caller said, is California’s San Francisco County; followed by Montgomery County, Md., a suburb of the nation’s capital; Northern California’s Marin County; Colorado’s Boulder County; and New York County, where Obama carried 85 percent of the 2008 vote. Travis County was the 57th most liberal-friendly county.

That's what I was thinking lol

I know its not radically to the left, but it is solidly liberal in comparison to both the state and nation.

Austin voters never met a bond package they didn't like. Solid tax and spend liberals.

There are a lot of people in Austin who may consider themselves liberal, who are actually Libertarian, but don't self identify as such because many people don't have a clear understanding of what it means.
