My place of business is shutting down in a couple of months, and my family is considering relocating to Austin afterwards. It is my elementary-school-age child, my fiance, and myself. We are seeking general information about Austin (crime rates/statistics? pros/cons to living there? lots of things to do? good school systems?).

We also own horses, which would be coming with us. What are some nice, smaller towns within a reasonable commute to Austin, where we could have our horses?

Another major factor for us is our dogs. I have googled and have so far found nothing about BSL, but we do own an elderly Rottweiler, an elderly Staffordshire Bull (both of which are "special needs"), and an American Pit Bull which is one year old. We want a bully-breed friendly area!!! We don't want to give up our dogs, especially the older ones. They have been family pets for years and don't have much longer anyway. Are there any laws that I have thus far been unable to find, regarding bully breeds and Rotties?

Also, housing - obviously with the horses we are wanting to buy our own place, but when we first move, realistically we will probably have to rent the first couple of months. How difficult is it to find a landlord who will allow pets, and specifically dogs of this breed?

We are looking to relocate around April/May. I would appreciate any general information, and also if any landlords who know of available housing could get in touch, that would be great!
