Can anyone go measure their trash and recycling containers' dimensions? Buying a house and planning how to utilize the garage space Thanks in advance!

There are FOUR different trash cart sizes, 24 gallon, 32 gallon, 64 gallon and 96 gallon, huge difference in size (and price of service). Recycling is in a 96 gallon cart (I think).

Yep, we had the two 96gal carts for over a year, then dropped to the smallest trash bin. Actually does make a difference in the garage space(ease of parking the lawn mower). IF you expect a lot of trash from your move-in, you could start using the largest trash bin until you find that a smaller one will do. NO charge to downsize...only takes a day or two to swap out. Slight inconvenience not having bins that match size...I used the top of the bins for many a temporary project needing a tallish surface. Two bins together cover some serious ground.

Do make sure you have City of Austin trash pick-up. There are some areas that use independent services(like Rattan Creek) through special provisions.

Dimensions for the 64 gal are 24x30x41. 96 gal. Is 29x35x44.

Be sure to plan in space for your coming 96 gal. composting container.

I'm thinking about putting up a small screen fence so I can put the recycling bin in the side yard without aggravating the neighbors. I want my garage back!

I do love the single-stream recycling, though. We put a lot in the monster blue bin and don't even fill the little trash bin unless we get a bunch of styrofoam packing material. 3 people and litter for two cats.

That is where I have mine, next to the gate in the fenced backyard. In our summer heat storing trash in the garage makes it stink.

Thanks all. The 96 gallon container is rather large. I'm probably going to just opt for the 32 gallon trash container as I'm just one person. Is there no option to get a smaller recycling container?
