I can't give you specific(since I'm not exactly sure of your specific destination) but I would go to Capital Metro's website. They have a trip planner that's pretty easy to use:

Trip Planner - Riding Capital Metro - Capital Metro Transit - Austin, TexasCapital Metro Transit - Austin, Texas (http://www.capmetro.org/riding/tripplanner.asp - broken link)

Give their website a thorough glance if you think you'll be using the buses.

Cedar Creek, which is near Bastrop has no public transportation..so basically if you don't have a car you are screwed.

Twange, I saw on some of your earlier posts that you arrived a few months ago from Cleveland. Have you found a job yet? I honestly think that if you have not, you should consider a city job with Austin in some sort of informational role. I think it nothing short of amazing the wealth of knowledge about Austin you have displayed here, and surely there must be some sort of occupation in the city gov't where you can parlay those skills. I think you have great writing skills and have an infectious excitement about Austin. I hate to think that you haven't found any work yet, as after a certain point I honestly think you might be wasting your time on here, and I say that without any malice whatsoever. I do hope you have found a job in Austin after all this time....
