We are thinking about buying in this neighborhood? Any opinions? We have young children so safety is the main concern. Thanks!

Safety of children is important. You should know that the number one killer of children is car accidents. Actually, there isn't even a close second. If safety for you children is important as you say, please consider a non-auto dependent community where the number of car trips can be minimized.

Block House is a MUD and is within Cedar Park's extraterritorial jurisdiction or ETJ. It is not actually in Leander despite having a Leander mailing address. You will not receive any services from Leander. All your services will come from Williamson County, Cedar Park or the MUD (library and fire services will be Cedar Park). They really should change the mailing address to Cedar Park to avoid confusion.

You should walk around the neighborhood and talk to the people who would be your neighbors. We lived there many years ago, and we never felt unsafe while out walking around etc.

We sold our home after a major electrical fire - the insurance company cashed us out due to the extensive damage and we lost everything. If you buy an older home, make sure they look over the electrical thoroughly. After our fire, I cannot even begin to count the number of people who stopped by just to tell us of their electrical issues.

We did drive through a few months ago to have a look at our old house (which was rebuilt by house flipper) and were disappointed that so many people seemed to have stopped taking care of their homes.
