Just wondering... it doesn't seem like the locals here have any interest in F1, even though it's in our backyard. Last year I went (my first F1 race), and it blew me away. It was very, very fun and I'm going again this year. But I suspect I'm in a very tiny minority.

So, are any of you going to go F1 in 3 weeks? Care to share why or why not?

Several (many) co-workers going; however, it is just not a great event for our small children, one of which still requires a nap and the other is noise sensitive. Otherwise, I very likely might go. Have been there for two concerts and one cycling event, fwiw.

Expensive.

Expensive to find childcare to do something already expensive.

And I'm over Austin traffic on normal days.

(I will say we'd likely enjoy any FI event but it's just not worth it right now.)

I'll be there, as will many of our neighbors. Was apprehensive about traffic last year, but it turned out to be smooth sailing.

COTA is offering a lot of fantastic racing other than just F1. This year we have attended Grand Am, Aussie V8's, American LeMans Series, and just this past weekend, the SVRA Historic races. It bums me out to see so such small crowds out there at all of these great events, I must say. We opt out of the F1 race, however. Once you've enjoyed 3-day weekends of awesome COTA racing in which you can sit almost anywhere you like all around the track, with room to stretch out, no crowds or long lines, and no traffic coming in or out, at a fraction of the cost of a weekend F1 ticket, it just seems unreasonable to pay more and get less.

We'll watch F1 at home, be slightly regretful of not going, (lol) but will enjoy all the cold reasonably-priced beer and clean bathrooms we can stand. Hope you all have a great time and if you haven't, check out some of the other series at COTA in 2014!

Just not my thing! I was sick last year and spent the weekend in bed listening to the helicopters fly overhead. I did read the BBC live blog of the race and it was surprisingly interesting. But not interesting enough to spend any time or money on it. Unlikely to even watch the race on TV.

Speaking of TV, it will be broadcast on NBC this year (national). Will be up against football on Sunday, I'm sure the ratings will be great...
