Does anyone have a recommendation for an away camp for a tween girl for this summer? She's 11, will be entering sixth grade next year. Am looking for a week-long camp that within a 3 hour drive.

I do not know anyone that has gone there lately, but this camp used to be highly regarded, maybe still is...

Although it looks like they only have 2 and 3 week terms....

I'd recommend one of the three Girl Scout camps in the area. All three have one week sessions, and are open to non-Girl Scouts. My daughter and niece have both been to Camp Texlake, on Lake Travis, near Spicewood.

I looked and the open house for Texlake is next weekend, but you have to register for it. Would be a chance to check it out.

My DD will be attending her 3rd summer at TexLake through GirlScouts. DD is not an active scout, never has been but she loves camp. This is her 5th summer attending GS Camp, she started going when she was about 10.
I think TexLake is a great value, is well organized etc. They just opened up the camp list last week and there are lots of sessions and options for this coming summer.
