A little further north you can get one of the better chicken fried steaks in the area in Liberty Hill at Dahlia Cafe.

Texas Land and Cattle concentrates on sirloin. Pre-sliced no less. Ugh.
I like Outback's Australia theme much more than Saltgrass' insulting ranch theme.

For something better and different you could try Jasper's in the Domain. Not as expensive as Trulucks or Flemings (also in the Domain).

Cool River???
Cool River Cafe - North Austin - Austin | Urbanspoon

If you order a bone-in ribeye at TL&C, you won't get pre-sliced sirloin

There's also Cheddar's for a casual steak meal.

Roaring Fork - parking is a bit easier than Eddie V's. Sit out on the deck:

Tried it a number of times - they're good in a comfort food kind of way. I equate them to a chicken fried steak. Except for the burger - that was gross.

For the vote. Roaring fork. All of those are more expensive than the Saltgrass/TLAC/TXRH spots, but definitely better.

havent really had a good steak in austin. Im sure ruths chris is fine (because they probably nationally source their meat), but all the regular places just have mediocre steaks. I eat ribeyes and its just hard to get a good ribeye in austin.

Im pretty sure texas cows just arent that good.

We went to roaring fork...delicious and an awesome atmosphere. If I didn't work at 3am I would of loved to just sit outside and have some beers for a few more hours.
.we got the rib eye...I'm not one for fatty meats but it was awesome. Mashed potatoes...fantastic...steak mushrooms were awesome..guacamole was good and topped it off with the huckleberry cheesecake which was insanely good.

Overall 5 stars. Good stuff although expensive.
