Is the ticket prices worth it? How are the lines?

Generally speaking, lines the past couple years haven't been too bad. There's enough options for you to pick from.

Tickets are a little steep this year, I thought they were $65 last year? Can't recall exactly... I'll probably still spring for it though.

Beyond stuffed. I think if you hit everyone it's close to 3 pounds of BBQ - that's if you don't buy any sides or beer. I usually limit to the 4-5 "regulars" and try 2-3 new ones on top of that.

Park a long ways away, you're going to need the walk afterwards!

I was surprised to see tickets actually offered ...VIP three years ago was impossible unless you found someone in the biz who couldn't make it(we got lucky ). It was Crystal clear and HOT when we went...an ice cream truck would have been golden! The lines are predictably long for the usual suspects, but thinned considerably in the later hours and higher temps.

The little pie booth was a welcome sweet alternative to all the smokey meat...not sure if they made it to a brick and mortar location in Austin(maybe the one on Burnet?)

It's a little spendy for our budget and DWs lighter appetite

But...I do have a birthday coming up...who knows?

Sounds yummy but pricey. I'll stick with the upcoming Hot Sauce festival which is still free. (almost, bring 3 cans for donation)

According to their twitter feed, all 500 VIP tickets sold out in 2 minutes flat! Still, I see general admission tix are still available (those sold out in just one day last year, so we're lucky, haha). It's an extremely well-run event. Not too crowded (because they cap total # of tickets), clean, organized, easy parking, etc. It's impossible to not get enough food at this thing. Even if you're getting a slice of brisket + a sausage link at each place, multiply that by 25, and well, no one's eating that much food!
