My family will be relocating to the Austin/Round Rock area within the next couple of months due to my husband's new job.

We know nothing of the area, and we're seeking a good apartment or renting neighborhood. We do eventually want to buy, but would rather rent for a year or so to get used to the areas first (and save money)

It's my husband, me, and our 1 year old son. We plan on saving money for a house down payment, so we're limiting our renting budget. We currently live in the Los Angeles area, and pay $1855 for our two bedroom apartment.

Needs: Good, safe neighborhood for our family. Washer/Dryer in Unit, Pet friendly, at least 2 bedrooms, and because we're saving money, $1500/mo is our max. We're also outdoorsy, so if there's a playground for our boy, or somewhere within walking distance of shopping or outdoor stuff (trails, etc), it would be a plus. I understand there are renting websites I can check out, but because we won't really have to time to fly over there and spend time looking, we don't want to blindly find a place we found online. So, that's why I'm asking for a recommended nice area. Thanks!

Where's your husband's job? (at the very least put nearest major cross streets).

( & Renting for 6 mos. to a year to get your bearings is a smart move.)
