It's supposed to be the size of "nine football fields" producing 1-6ft waves.

What do yall think?

I think people should go to the ocean to surf.

Sounds like fun. But until it opens, I'll keep heading down to Padre Island for my surfing.

Where will they get the water from? I guess Onion Creek is nearby - they could filter it.

I read a claim that it will be all rainwater and constantly recycled. Of course a press release can say anything.

My kids gave me the side eye when I mentioned it this morning, they think that the ocean is for surfing! I can't really imagine it, I guess we will have to wait and see.

I've always wanted to learn how to surf, and a controlled environment like this seems like a great place to start. It's no substitute for the real thing, of course, but I ain't scoffing at it. Water parks are generally very efficient with water usage, so I'm not all that concerned for that aspect.

All we have here is the Gulf, though. Not good for waves and IMO it's not pleasant to be in either.

South Padre is! Has something to do with how it sits via the opening to the Gulf. But I agree as far as the rest of the Gulf.
