One person shot, killed by APD officer | KXAN.com

I live almost next door to this. Travis County Sheriff Dept. is who provided law enforcement here normally.

It appears the city limits of Austin zigzag through your neighborhood. Looks like the dead guy should've zigged instead of zagging.

Isn't this three blocks from where APD shot and killed another person in February?

I just looked at a map showing Claxton Drive from Pitter Pat to Mowinkle outside the city limits. I have never seen APD here, only sheriff dept - who gave me my only traffic ticket in the 10-15 years.

Your correct. That area is all Austin ETJ and NOT in Austin City Limits. Therefore, Travis County Sheriff's Office full jurisdiction. Not sure why APD was at that house without Travis County deputies.

Looks like the original incident happened in AUSTIN CITY LIMITS BOUNDARY, a follow up on the suspect vehicle address was in the county (Austin ETJ). By state law, APD has lawful jurisdiction in the ETJ to follow up on a case that occurred in the city

^That, more or less. The idea of fleeing across a city or county line does not work in reality.

I am very curious as to what the full story is here, though.

This year we are ahead of New York City for officer involved shootings and one behind Houston.

Thats terrible considering the population and size of Austin. The only time I have been slammed on the back of a cop car and sidewalk was in Austin.

The recent incidents reflect on the crazies amongst us, not on the police.
