My now 9 year old daughter watched a short kid's movie every day in her day care with the other children, in addition to ample outside play, educational work, arts/crafts and interaction with the daycare provider. She was there for ten hours, so there was enough time to do all of that.

There are so many more things to be alarmed about than a daycare center letting the kids watch a movie.

Is it just happening now? That is, during a week with "heat emergencies"? or is it part of the curriculum? Big difference between an occasional fill-in activity during either pouring rain or intense heat that makes going outside difficult/problematic and a regular thing.

Look for a NAEYC accredited center.

I wouldn't be comfortable with this at all, but I follow the Montessori "no screens at all before age 2, and then VERY limited after" way of thinking. I grew up without a television in our house until I was 12, and I think I am a more creative person for having that experience. I was certainly much better able to self-amuse. Under no circumstances would I be pleased with daily movie-showing to a toddler.

Can we get what movie it is? There is a difference between watching Spongebob versus watching a video about different cultures or teaching languages.

TV, phones, iPads, etc. provide zero enrichment. Kids are being exposed to the things that make people big money. Your child will be entertained with a box and will probably learn something from it as well.

Preschool isn't school... It's just daycare for working parents or lazy stay at homes... Under 5 year olds don't need lesson plans... They need to play and chill... Calm down helicopters...

I also work in child care. On occassion, such as a holiday like Christmas or easter, the older kids will watch a movie. It will be a seasonal, child appropriate one as well. The 2 year Olds are not good at focusing long enough, so usually they don't participate, and just play in their classroom.
