Westlake is close to downtown and close to Barton Creek Mall and a short drive to all the shops at Sunset Valley, and yeah, there's a Stabucks everywhere. Westlake proper is actually an older community, but there are pockets of newer growth. It more closely resembles West Austin neighborhoods than Round Rock or other suburbs further out from the center of town. It's also going to be much pricier per square foot than Round Rock unless you're willing to go with a much older home. It is however in the Eanes school district, which with that and the proximity to downtown, make is a very desirable location.

West Lake Hills what's it like there
Broad question, but it is relatively centrally located, pretty wooded and (duh!) hilly. Known for its school district. It is also expensive. I would say at least 3x the cost or higher for the same house in WL as in RR.

I didn't like it as much as other areas of Austin. It depends on what you're looking for. It just was a little too rich for us... we could probably afford a house in one or two of the neighborhoods but I'm not materialistic and didn't want my kid to grow up looking at what the other kids had and thinking she was poor!
