North central Austin (Burnet/Anderson area). 5.75 miles as the crow flies, 8 miles via I35. Google claims 11 minutes without traffic. 20 minutes right now (8:10 AM).

Edit: Since others are adding, and I feel left out.
Google lists 36 minutes by bike, downhill the whole way. A bit more going uphill the revese.

10-12 minutes from Mueller. Not a whole lot more than that on a bicycle.

Disagree. During rush hour we have several times in the last couple of years driven to 1st and Congress (Sorry, Cesar Chavez and Congress) and it took an hour, so the miles multiplied x 1-1/4, not 3. The drive from there to the Capitol doesn't take 57 minutes.

Agreed. There are specific bottlenecks that throw this factoring off.

1. I-35 in Round Rock near Ikea.
2. Mopac between 2222 and 2244
3. The 'Y' in Oak Hill
4. I-35 in Central Austin

I used to say i could get anywhere in Austin in 15 minutes. 6 miles from my house -- it usually takes about 13 minutes with no traffic. Of course then, where would i park???

16 Miles about 30 minutes.

However once in a while if I can get TC to break out the old MD500 (provided that mooch Magnum isn't using it) I can be at the Capitol in 2 minutes.

1. I-35 in Round Rock near Ikea. Actually, in Round Rock it's worse (and consistently worse) right about 620/I35. I plan on there being a problem there and avoid it if I can.

3. The 'Y' in Oak Hill

4. I-35 in Central Austin
Again, avoid I-35. Since I've watched so many of the roads being built since 1969 I know some back ways that make that more possible, if I'm not taking Mopac.
