I just treat them like any intersection without a stop light, remain cognitive of potential cross traffic and proceed through them decreasing speed only if necessary

Miami FL and Memphis TN use them. I think they are effective for night driving when traffic volumes are low. A lot of Austin’s traffic signals, especially in S.Austin and E.Austin are terribly timed for low volume traffic loads in the evening hours making you wait at intersections where nothing is passing through but ghosts

Maybe it’s because a lot of my driving is central and can be busy areas it scares me. But we both have very different driving styles and neither of us will convince the other.

Eh. It wouldn’t work out too well in Downtown. It would be better in more suburban feeling lower traffic volume areas. There is too much late night traffic on Friday’s and Saturdays in Central Austin.

Just saw this shared by one of my far north friends. I have no idea where any of these places are…but I think I take bell Blvd to get to Cedar Bark Park?

Quote:

PLANNED LANE CLOSURE ON BELL BOULEVARD (US 183)
Starting 9 p.m. Sun., 6/27: northbound traffic begins shifting to newly constructed lanes, north of Park Street. Once traffic is moved, left turn lane to Cedar Park Drive will be blocked off. Plan to reopen turn lane Thurs., 7/1.
Don’t get caught unprepared N4C

I usually bypass all of that on the toll road. It’s rare I take Bell Blvd. Too many stop lights.

We are too... at South Padre Island. The town is getting crowded with tourists.
