Bastrop was much lovelier before the fire. It still pains me to drive through there. Spicewood is very nice. Both are a long drive downtown, however.

3) Bastrop has more of the traditional small, Texas town feel. Spicewood is growing like wildfire. It's probably going to just be an extension Lakeway pretty soon.

Thank you for this insightful reply. So if i wanted to be really close to things bc I uber is living in Bee Cave where people in Spicewood go?

Also, and why when it hit uber from balstrap address ( 10 miles away) it says 24 mile and minute to Austin ?
It bc it's one shot on a freeway? Thank you.

The city is Bastrop. That’s what we are trying to tell you. Not Balstrap. You’ll need a car for either. I don’t think an Uber would be out that way to take you to the airport. It’s all highway.

Spicewood is close to Bee Cave, where you can find much of what you want/need. Bastrop is further out and has much less in terms of services/stores, etc.

Bastrop before the fire was just a huge beautiful pine forest. It will be that way again ... some day. You can find good real estate values out here, but before buying I highly recommend trying out a 7:00 am drive into downtown Austin. That’s all it took for us to cross Bastrop off our list.

Good luck!

Spicewood seems more like a settlement out in the country than an actual town, where as Bastrop seems like it has been a genuine bonified self-sustaining small town that's also a county seat for over a hunered years. Bastrop is also more convenient to Austin, with the airport, COTA, and the future Tesla factory or all located on the Bastrop side of Austin.

Y'all im terrible on cell w this site. I see an abundant amount of typos ij my post and it seems my spell check retains wrong words (Android) and now it is obsessed spelling BASTROP in a disgusting way. I promise I am not making this mistake on purpose. Seems all replies are 50/50 so I guess only time in each will answer. Thank you.
