We have never been to Hamilton Pool Preserve, so today seemed like a good day to go. Little did we know that they apparently close it for swimming when the bacteria count is high. Nice to know, as opposed to not knowing and getting Giardia or something else nasty.

For others "not in the know" like us, best to call ahead to make sure swimming is permitted the day you are going. We were told a good Plan B was Milton Rimer Ranch, and it was actually one of the best days swimming we have had in TX. It wasn't crowded, the water was the perfect temp, and the clouds took away some of the heat every few mintues. It was a great Memorial Day.

That stinks; If I would of known you were heading out, I would of told you to pack your mountain bike in the back of the vehicle and check out Reimers Ranch and ride some trails.

You pass the entrance going to Hamilton Pool. When we turned around, I think it was about a mile up from Hamilton Pool. There is a big enough Travis County Park sign that you can't miss it.
