He did not get that job. Can't remember exactly what the circumstances were, but he did get a position with a healthcare company as VP of Finance. We moved to Austin (Round Rock actually) in November and couldn't be happier! Good luck!

quite a few hedge funds that used to exist are now liquidating, so finding a job in investment/wealth management, not just in austin, would be tough at the moment.

banks/real estate would be tought too.

most finance jobs in austin that you could find now would be in corporate finance. i know a lot of finance mbas that work for tech companies in their finance dept - dell is an example. but, with dell restucturing its business right now, i am not sure of job openings at the moment. however, it would be worth trying in dell or other bigger tech companies with finance depts if you want a job in austin.

another thing to do is browse the ut business school career resources website, and see where the students graduating now are finding jobs in austin

Thanks for the feedback. There's going to be some culture shock as it relates to my chosen field but at least I have some time to find the perfect job for me. I think we're moving in May to the Round Rock area. adivino, I applied for a couple finance jobs at the hospital my wife is going to be working at. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I am a CPA moving to Austin - just curious, have any of you looked into the public accounting firms, seems like there are some good opportunities there.
