Could this be possible? A brand new 2500 sq ft home for under $200K????????? What gives? Is it on a landfill or something? These homes are beautiful.
How's the Hutto area???
I need insider info.
We've got 2 kids, and need to find an area which is clean, safe and good schools. Would like a back yard and possibly a community pool.

You must not be from around here.

That type of pricing is average around these parts, although Hutto is a little out of the way with respect to its proximity to Austin.

I love hearing the surprise in people's comments when they notice that Yes, it's possible. And with good sized lots and community pools and golf courses included. Oh, and good schools. Good schools too. No, these homes aren't built on landfills. More than anything it's just former corn fields or whatever the farmers grew on it. We do have a more clay soil and you have to be a little careful of which builder you choose (Lennar is the one to avoid right now). Be aware of shifting soil which can be a slight issue. I've not known anyone out here who had any problems unless they lived in a Lennar home.

Hutto, maybe 7-10 yrs ago was a 1 stop light town. It's now the fastest growing town in Williamson County. The only thing we don't have is a grocery store. Look at the website for CrossingsofCarmelCreek and it will show you what's coming in that 400 acres. We also have a project about to be built around our silos (incorporating them into the design). This is a town that doesn't want to lose it's small town feel, history, and community spirit as it grows. We also don't want to just blend in with Round Rock as we start to reach our city limits. We're close to the tollway and you can avoid either the tollway or I 35 to get downtown. Lots of commuters out here take back roads into Austin. Surprisingly, it only took us 20-25 minutes this past weekend to get out to Lake Travis. To get into downtown Austin can take maybe 30 minutes.

The schools are good, and we just added elementary #5. We are adding a new middle school, and plans are being made for a second high school. At one time, the high school was rated exemplary but is currently recognized.

We have sports teams, dance schools, tae kwan do, etc...There's a water skiing practice lake in Frame Switch (just down the road). We are getting a new YMCA, Holiday Inn is opening as is walgreens. There's tons of stuff here for such a small but growing town. Lots of town pride believe it or not. We have a new small library in the old firestation building and we always have entertainers from Austin for storytimes and shows. There are lots of horse properties, and plans for a trail system, a new lake for fishing and you will be able to canoe or kayak on it as well. It is supposed to be relatively large. We're close to Dell Diamond and Old Settlers Park as well. Hutto has it's own parks too. We have concerts in the park as well as movies in the park during the summer. Good restaurants here. We have a few festivals during the year like old time days, old time christmas, a garden trail (like a garden tour), churches.
