Here's a few pics (off my phone camera) I took a couple of weeks ago while riding the Barton Creek trail.

Those are some pretty sweet pictures. I love the those kinds of trails. almost as much as I love downhill. I really like the one with all the rocks, the third one.

The greenbelt has some extremely technical areas, some very easy areas, and lots in between. I don't know how many miles of trails there are out there, but there are a lot!

Good info. OK, so IF I move I have a good excuse to upgrade BOTH the mountain bike and road bike. Add 2 MB's for the kids too. And the canoe or kayak and the racks. Add A/C to the camper, or get a new one. Glad housing and COL is lower.

Another area that looks like a great ride is Hill Country State Natural Area near Bandera. It's about 2 hours from Austin, but has a lot of trails. We went camping and hiking there last year and it's beautiful.

Austin Bike's Guide to Central Texas Mountain Biking - Hill Country State Natural Area

Actually, we're supposed to be there right now but we have a sick pet who can't be left alone

To rg80: I have not been to Austin, well once I was in roundrock for about a week, but I was doing some construction for my Aunt, so I don't really remember it too well. But I used to live in east Texas, in Lindale, about 17 miles from Tyler. There were no hills there, that is why I did not know if there were hills in Austin.
